Take Control – Listen to the super guru

We all know that when we’re starting to lose control a bit, one of the first things that goes out the window is regularly monitoring our weight in an objective way.

Losing control needs dissociation; dissociation from the reality that we’ve started eating more than we know is good for us, or beginning to subtly break specific food rules we’ve wisely made for ourselves, or slipping up on keeping really active.

The honest truth communicated by the weighing machine is like having a super guru at home and so makes it one of the best ways to keep an objective check on progress. The super guru never lies to us. The scales know us exactly.

We might be able to fool a friend or our mother or even ourselves, but we can never fool a digital weighing machine.

So one of the very best ways of taking control is to bite the bullet and get on the scales.

Reality can be worked on and struggled with, but not facing reality and staying dissociated is one of the very best ways of staying obese.
