Get Active – An excellent yoga stretch to do
Here is an excellent yoga stretch. It’s really basic but great.
Stand with your feet as close together as you can to maintain balance.
Lift your arms up straight above your head, up against your ears, so your body feels like a long straight tree, hands together, fingers pointing to the sky.
Keep your arms in that position and begin to bend slowly to the left and hold for a few seconds.
Then repeat by bending slowly to the right and hold for a few seconds.
Next begin to bend backwards as far as you can without forcing and hold for a few seconds.
Finally, bend forward as far as you can go without forcing and hold for a few seconds.
Then to finish off return to being a long straight tree pointing to the sky and when you’re ready bring your arms down to the horizontal and stretch them out in the opposite directions, your body looking like a cross.
Over time the “few seconds” of holding the stretch in the various directions can lengthen into 10 seconds or even 20 seconds.
This is a stretch you can do anytime time of the day and is guaranteed to make you feel great!
